20. Temporomandibular joint.

Covers the temporomandibular joint as a hinge-type synovial joint linking the mandible to the skull, starting with its articular surfaces on the temporal bone and mandibular condyle. It explains how fibrocartilage replaces hyaline cartilage here and how the articular disc divides the joint into two parts, one allowing depression and elevation and the other forward and backward translocation. It then describes the joint capsule attachments and the three extracapsular ligaments, namely lateral, sphenomandibular and stylomandibular, with their points of attachment, and closes with the movements of the mandible.
