Covers the back muscles in two layers: the extrinsic superficial group, including trapezius, latissimus dorsi, the rhomboids, levator scapulae and the serratus posterior muscles, and the intrinsic group, including splenius, the erector spinae columns, the multifidi, rotatores and interspinales. Each muscle is given its origin, insertion, nerve supply, action and blood supply, often in tables, with mnemonics for the layers. It closes with the thoracolumbar fascia, its three lumbar layers and its functions.
