Covers the femur as the longest, heaviest and strongest bone, outlining its proximal end, shaft and distal end, with its articulations at the hip and knee. Then describes the patella as the largest sesamoid bone, formed within the quadriceps femoris tendon. Finally introduces the tibia as the second largest bone and notes its connection to the fibula by the interosseous membrane, with the fibula not articulating with the femur.
Topic 8 of 49 in the MU Sofia syllabus for Anatomy (Bones and Muscles) (Medicine, Years 1 and 2). The free AceMed note covers it in 5 sections, about 97 words (1 min of reading), with 10 flashcards.

TIBIA & FIBULA
Tibia :
Fibula
FEMUR
The femur or thigh bone, is the longest, heaviest & strongest bone in the body.
Consists of :
↳ Proximal end: articulates with the acetabulum.
↳ Shaft: angels medially
↳ Distal end: articulates with the tibia & patella.
PATELLA (knee cap)
Is the larges sesamoid bone (a bone formed within the tendon of muscle).
It is formed within the tendon of quadriceps femoris m. as it crosses anterior to the knee joint to insert into the tibia.
Tibia :
Is the 2nd largest bone of the body after the femur.
— Connected by interosseus membrane. —
Fibula
Doesn't articulate with the femur bone.
