In short
- We only store what AceMed needs to work, such as keeping you signed in and remembering your language.
- No advertising cookies, no analytics trackers, no tracking across other sites.
- That's why you don't see a cookie banner. If that ever changes, we'll ask you first.
1. What cookies and local storage are
Cookies and local storage are small pieces of information a website saves in your browser. Some are needed for the site to work; others are used to measure visitors or show ads.
2. What AceMed stores
We use only strictly necessary storage. The law allows this without asking for consent, because AceMed can't work without it:
- acemed_student_access and acemed_student_refresh (cookies) — keep you signed in. The first lasts 15 minutes and is renewed while you use AceMed; the second lasts until your session ends or you sign out.
- Stripe cookies on the checkout page (such as __stripe_mid and __stripe_sid) — set by our payment provider to take payments securely and prevent fraud.
- acemed-lang — whether you read AceMed in English or Bulgarian.
- acemed-rail — whether the study panel beside a note is open or collapsed.
- acemed-sound, acemed-last-colors and acemed-stylus — whether sounds are on, your last pen and highlighter colours, and whether you've used a stylus recently.
- Study data on this device — your settings and progress kept in the browser so AceMed opens quickly, and notebook pages or pen drawings waiting to be saved to your account (removed once saved).
- Checkout and payment notices (session storage) — where you are in checkout, and whether you hid a payment notice. Cleared when you close the tab.
These stay in your browser until you sign out, clear them, or change the preference.
3. Other websites
AceMed doesn't embed advertising, social media widgets or third-party analytics.
Notes with videos show thumbnails from YouTube, and a video you play loads from youtube-nocookie.com. YouTube may then store information in your browser under its own policy. Video suggestions that open on YouTube's website follow YouTube's own policy too.
Our payment provider's checkout runs inside our checkout page and uses the cookies listed above to prevent fraud. These are covered by its own policy.
The “Continue with Google” button and window on the sign-in and sign-up pages come from Google, which may use its own cookies under its own policy.
4. If this changes
If we ever want to use analytics or other non-essential cookies, we will ask for your consent first with a clear choice to say no, and update this page.
5. How to remove them
You can delete cookies and local storage for AceMed in your browser's settings at any time. If you do, you'll be signed out and your preferences will reset.
