200. Face – topographico-anatomical specificities.
Covers the topographic anatomy of the face's subregions, beginning with the infratemporal fossa: its boundaries, the foramina and passages that open from it, and its contents such as the masticatory muscles, mandibular nerve branches and buccal fat pad. It then moves through the facial, infraorbital, zygomatic, mental and buccal regions, giving borders, blood supply and innervation for each, and notes clinical points such as dental anaesthesia and pain from maxillary sinus disease.
Topic 199 of 236 in the MU Pleven syllabus for Anatomy Bones and Muscles (Medicine, Year 2). The free AceMed note covers it in 17 sections, about 732 words (5 min of reading), with 16 flashcards.

The infratemporal fossa is an extracranial space located deep to the ramus of the mandible. It contains the masticatory muscles, branches of the mandibular nerve and maxillary artery and the venous pterygoid plexus. It also contains part of the parotid gland and part of the buccal fat pad.
Boundaries
1 Cranially: sphenoidal bone – infratemporal surface of the greater wing, temporal bone – squamous part
2 Ventrally: maxillary tuberosity
3 Dorsally: continues as the prestyloid space
4 Medially: sphenoidal bone – lateral plate of pterygoid process
5 Laterally: ramus of mandible
