Bones and Muscles · 19. Thoracic joints. The thorax as a whole.
Covers the joints of the thorax: costovertebral joints between the ribs and thoracic vertebrae, including the intra-articular ligament that divides them into two compartments, and costotransverse joints with their medial, lateral and superior ligaments. It then describes sternocostal joints, the first rib's fibrocartilaginous connection, interchondral joints between costal cartilages of ribs VII to X, and the manubriosternal and xiphisternal symphyses, noting age-related ossification of the latter.
