Covers the muscles of the hip, starting with the iliopsoas group (iliacus, psoas major and psoas minor) and their origins, insertions, nerves, actions and blood supply. It then moves to the superficial gluteal muscles (gluteus maximus, medius, minimus and tensor fasciae latae) and the deep layer, including piriformis, the obturator internus and gemellus muscles, and quadratus femoris. A mnemonic, PIN and PINS, lists the structures passing through the greater sciatic foramen below piriformis.
