2. Hygienic characteristic of physical factors of the atmosphere. Climate and weather.
Covers microclimate and its physical factors of temperature, humidity, air movement and radiation, and how these combine to affect the body. It explains thermoregulation under hypothalamic control, and how indoor conditions are kept comfortable in schools, workplaces and hospitals. It then turns to weather and climate effects on health, acclimatization, climate prevention measures and climatotherapy by climate type.
Topic 2 of 21 in the MU Sofia syllabus for Hygiene and Epidemiology (Dental Medicine, Year 3). The free AceMed note covers it in 2 sections, about 441 words (3 min of reading), with 25 flashcards.

Physical factors of the atmosphere and their combined effects on the human body. Thermoregulation and prevention of thermal discomfort.
Microclimate is the set of local atmospheric conditions (temperature, humidity, air movement, and radiation) surrounding the human body that determine thermal comfort and heat exchange.
The atmosphere influences the human body mainly through microclimate, which includes:
Thermoregulation: is the physiological process controlled by the hypothalamus that maintains a stable core body temperature through heat production and heat loss mechanisms.
Goal: Maintain stable core temperature despite environmental changes.
Prevention of thermal discomfort aims to: maintain indoor environmental conditions within optimal ranges of temperature, humidity, and air movement to ensure comfort, health, and productivity in settings such as schools, workplaces, and hospitals.
