It describes the great and small saphenous veins, including their origins, courses, drainage points and tributaries, and the basilic and cephalic veins with the median cubital and median antebrachial connections. Two pictures accompany the text, one of the foot venous arch and one of the upper limb veins.

Lower limb veins:

  • Deep System Veins accompanying arteries "medial to the arteries"
  • Veins of the thigh
  • Femoral
  • Deep vein
  • popliteal v.
  • Veins of the Legs
  • Ant. tibial vein
  • Post. tibial vein
  • Fibular v.
  • Veins of the Foot
  • Dorsal veins
  • Medial & lateral Plantar veins.
  • Superficial System Veins in the subcutaneous tissue, which do not accompany arteries
  • Dorsal venous Arch of the Foot
  • Great Saphenous Vein "longest vein in the human body"
  • The great saphenous vein arises from the medial side of the venous arch and passes superiorly anterior to the medial malleolus and posteromedial to the knee. It drains into the femoral vein at the saphenous opening, an opening in the fascia lata in the upper thigh
  • Tributaries
  • Ant. femoral Cutaneous v.
  • Superficial epigastric v.
  • Superficial Circumflex Iliac v.
  • External Pudendal vein.
  • Small saphenous vein
  • The small saphenous vein arises from the lateral side of the venous arch, passes posterior to the lateral malleolus, and ascends the posterior leg. It drains into the popliteal vein behind the knee.
  • Tributaries
  • Deep veins of the dorsum of the foot
