99. Maxillary artery

Covers the maxillary artery, one of the two terminal branches of the external carotid artery, arising deep to the neck of the mandible. The note splits its fifteen branches into mandibular, pterygoid and pterygopalatine parts, giving each branch's supply territory, with mnemonics for the branch order. It then describes the superficial temporal artery, its course in front of the tragus, and its parotid, transverse facial, auricular, zygomatico-orbital and terminal frontal and parietal branches.
