Preclinical Paediatrics
Preclinical Paediatrics is taught in Year 3 of Dental Medicine at the Medical University of Sofia, and its syllabus runs through 40 topics in a single chapter. It begins with prenatal and maxillofacial development, facial clefts and the tooth germ, then covers the histogenesis and structure of enamel, dentin, pulp, cementum, periodontium and alveolar bone. Later topics deal with the oral mucosa, tooth eruption and root resorption, primary and permanent teeth, developmental anomalies and dysplasia, oral ecology and microflora, saliva and gingival crevicular fluid, and immunity. AceMed has a note for every topic, about four hours of reading in all, with 113 labelled pictures, 11 tables and 591 flashcards.
